Tuesday March 11
Been in the van all day and all last night. Jeremy has been driving forever! Almost in Lubbock… I’ve been watching lots of Lost and The Office Season 4. Mysterious and Hilarious!!!
Friday March 14
Played Lubbock, TX on Wednesday night in this huge Rodeo type room. There was nothing around the venue. Absolutely nothing. So we shot the shit all day and night in the backstage room. Ate a lot of corn chips. These kind of shows are cool because you never know what to expect all day and then when we actually get up on stage it ends up being really cool. It wasn’t the most packed show but the audience was super into it. We feed off that energy.
The next day we played San Antonio. Originally we thought we were gonna play SXSW this weekend but something got messed up with scheduling dates so we played San Antonio instead of Austin. I think because there are soo many bands playing SXSW and doing shows around the area in texas we saw a crazy amount of vans and trailers. Every venue in most cities in Texas were booked that weekend with bands coming from and to SXSW. We met up with Cancerbats yesterday. The show was a lot smaller than we expected. Usually San Antonio is one of our better markets to play in America but this time the turnout wasn’t so hot. I think we were done playing by 9 pm. The venue was super small and it still got nice a sweaty and we rocked out. Cheap drinks to boot! Doesn’t matter how many people are there. We love playing this music. And I have to say every night of this tour I cannot complain about the response. We haven’t played too much in America in the last year so I’m glad people are still into us and come out to see us.
After the show us and the Bats drove down to Austin to party at South By Southwest. I ended up kinda squeezing my way through a line to the Victory showcase. I didn’t know how I was getting in yet, i couldn’t get ahold of anyone… but as a fight broke out and made its way outside it was the perfect opportunity for me to make my way inside without security stopping me. The reason I really wanted to get in is because next door in the same venue building NOFX was playing at around 1am. I ended up getting through and into the 2nd venue where NOFX was playing. Somehow I managed to get the rest of the CBK dudes into the venue and we all drank and watched NOFX. They only played up to the chorus of every song. Like a minute of each song and then they would just stop and make jokes and go into the next song ( which they would only play a minute of) haha. Ran into a ton of people that I knew from random places. Ended the night roaming the streets with Mike from Cancerbats and my brother Joel who is on tour with us. How are the streets of Austin during this festival dead at 3:30 AM? Sucked. Ended the night drinking warm beers with Mike in the van.
Dallas tonight was really cool. 2 stages. Our package played the big stage and a bunch of local bands played the side stage during change overs. Dallas is a really consistent city for us. Wild audience. Good vibes in the room. Such a great night.
