TIMES OF GRACE
The Hymn Of A Broken Man
(Roadrunner Records)

The first thing you need to know about TIMES OF GRACE is that is made up of Adam D. (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) and Jesse Leach (original vocalist of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE). Right there, you should already be thinking “oooooo”, perhaps even becoming a bit giddy in the process. Not that it is much of a surprise, but TIMES OF GRACE does not disappoint. The Hymn Of A Broken Man is powerful, engaging, and explosive. Instrumentally, this album is either soaring or darkly melodic, even during some of the more intense breakdowns. Vocally, it’s all the more impressive, whether Leach is singing or screaming. While not largely diverse, TIMES OF GRACE does remain varied enough that the songs don’t start running together (something a lot of these bands run into trouble with). There’s a good balance between aggression and reflection here, so it’s not like all heavy or all melodic; it’s a well balanced metal sound that genre fans will surely appreciate. Even if The Hymn Of A Broken Man doesn’t make you a fan, chances are you’ll still like a lot it has to offer. TIMES OF GRACE is a force to be reckoned with, so if you’re of metal at all, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. (NL)

I can’t get “The forgotten one” out of my head. Super simple song, I learned it the first time I heard it, but it’s absolutely perfect!

Exactly. The good musicians know where a note is appropriate, and don’t try and turn it into a talent contest….

Well said. And I love the whiskey rock vibe to the song. Jesse’s voice?! “Take me to CHURCH!” Lol. Wicked soulful!
