BRING ME THE HORIZON
There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It, There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret
(Epitaph Records)
Review By Brenden McBrayer

If BRING ME THE HORIZON is the future of metal, than I recant any 2012 threats I have ever made for some ultimate power to swallow the earth whole in fire. I felt that the band’s first two releases Count Your Blessings and This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For were gimmick laden hipster death metal write offs, and 2008’s Suicide Season was a step in the right direction filled with all the thrash and black aspects that they merely toyed around with previously, but now on album number 3 BMTH have not only solidified their sound but dominated all competition in doing so. To call this record epic doesn’t deliver the justice its deserves, and the incredibly tight rhythms laced under technical riffing and vocalist/marketing genius Oli Sykes best vocal performance to date, really show that if you’re not taking this band as a serious voice in current metal than you just aren’t listening. The production scale also escalates much farther than the band has ever been allowed in the past, and when you listen to album intro “Crucify Me” you immediately feel the difference in force. Huge synth backing full vocal tracks and a very exciting guest spot by scene pop sensation LIGHTS let you know that this is THE quintessential BMTH album, and the string arrangements continue through the album adding a soft skin stretched over the molten meat at the core of the record. Of the 30 or so metal albums I have had land on my desk this year, its beyond safe to say this is the Rock Balboa of metal for the year of 2010.
