1. hows the tour going?
The tour has been going really well. We’ve gotten to play great
shows and make new friends at almost every stop. We’ve been playing
truth or dare constantly and eating way too much McDonald’s.
2. how did you end up working with Death to False Hope Records
and How have they been treating you thus far?
We heard about Death to False Hope Records from our good friends
James Brown from Nerd Alert/Battle! and the Orlando band The Working
Dead. They told us how much Scotty from Death to False Hope had helped
them out and we wanted to be part of it. He has been insanely helpful
with last minute show booking and promotions.
3. Do you have any plans to start working on a full length
Yeah, we’ve recorded seven songs with Dave Pratka at Crescendo
Studios in Gainesville, FL. These are available for download on the
Death to False Hope Records website, so check those out there. We are
going to take our favorite songs from those recordings, record a few
more new ones in order to make a full length “El Corazón”. Lisa
Garelick from Kind of Like Records is going to release for us later
this year. We are so stoked to work with her.
4. You guys covered “Hey Jealousy” on your demo, what it your favorite 90′s
alt rock song?
This one is kind of tough so we each picked one. Robbie’s choice is
“Motorcycle Drive By” by Third Eye Blind. Andrew went with “1979″ by
the Smashing Pumpkins. Blaine’s favorite is “All I Want” by The
Offspring. Jamie’s favorite is “One Week” by The Barenaked Ladies.
5. What’s it like living in Gainesville, is the scene accepting to new
bands, or was it hard to get in with the established bands?
Gainesville is an amazing place to live. It has a rad small town
vibe but at the same time, there are so many different people around
that it never feels stale. The music scene in Gainesville is unique.
There are always a ton of shows all around town with a huge variety of
bands. The only problem is that with all the variety of the scene, it
ends up being a scene full of different cliques and its really hard to
establish yourself as a new band.
6. What are Kadet’s biggest influences?
Alcohol, partying, being alive, girlfriends, best friends, new
friends, our mommies, TV, fast food, and most of all, America.
7. Where do you see Kadets in 5 years?
Hopefully what we are doing now, but just on a bigger scale. Being
best friends, writing new songs and touring worldwide would be ideal
for all four of us.
8. What is your dream tour(including bands broken up)?
Kadets Fest would include: Blink-182, The Get Up Kids, The Elected,
New Found Glory, Saves the Day, Say Anything, The Deftones, Brand New,
Crime in Stereo, Ke$ha, The Promise Ring, The Minutemen and Thin
Lizzy.
9. What has been your favorite place to play on tour?
Our favorite place ever was on our first tour when our friend
Michael Steele booked us at the Crayola House in Harrisonburg,
Virginia. It was on Cinco de Mayo and kids were just jumping around
holding tequila bottles and partying.
10. Anything you want to plug/closing thoughts?
Check out our good buddies Museum Mouth from South Port, North
Carolina. They’ve helped us out so much on this tour and their music
is really good. You should definitely give them a listen.
