An outfit who put emphasis on the ‘punk’ into pop-punk, this is a more visceral approach to an otherwise genre of pure ear candy, THE STORY SO FAR very closely reaching the cusp of post-hardcore blistering on many occasions here. While the downfall of pop-punk historically has had to deal with either whiny, self-pitying lyrics that can make the listener cringe or long records full of primarily filler songs between 2 or 3 decent tracks, Under Soil And Dirt thankfully doesn’t lend you to believe frontman Parker Cannon is in need of any tissue and this first LP never out welcomes its stay coming in at just over 30 minutes of consistently sharp songwriting.

Hands down one of the best pop punk discs of the year, the anthemic melodies and overflowing hooks combined with the forthright and mature wordplay are going to make this band an established name very quickly. Had these guys existed in the ‘we wanna sign the next GREEN DAY’ major label invasion into punk rock in the mid 90‘s, they would have been on Geffen and all over MTV alongside MXPX and SCHLEPROCK.
