This is one of the single most amazing pieces of art I have ever had the opportunity of lending my ears to, a true top-notch auditory experience. Right out of the gates, one of the best 40-second digital intros I’ve ever heard christens this musical Ark of the Covenant onto its epic voyage. This bad motherfucker goes right into the fist pumping anthem “BURNIN” Featuring the colossus of industry himself TRE NYCE. Much like the members of BROKENCYDE, I also enjoy getting drunk, getting down, and smoking blunts so I was able to relate to the song content. When TRE NYCE’s contribution comes in after about a minute and 30 seconds in I am instantly reminded why he is an artist that I never stop hearing about through the most popular media outlets, this guy is for real. One of my favorite parts about the first three songs, is how they were able to use the same samples for each song, such a creative way to convey a message that spans one scene, in various different format changes; like song names. Did I mention the 3rd track, “Phenomenon” featured Paul Wall? Well it fucking does. 2 tracks and 8.5 minutes in, I’m about to let Stadium Arcadium take a back seat as the best album I’ve ever heard. As you peruse through this Magnum Opus it’s surreal when you realize; this band really does cover a wealth of content: Clubs, blunts, getting wasted, having sex, partying, it’s all there. A strong point of this release is they were able to fit Auto-Tune on just about EVERY vocal track, and I’m sure this was no easy task, as there are a LOT of vocal tracks. I had a hard time figuring out which song was my favorite, I really liked “Ocean View” though, as it talks about smoking weed and getting drunk on a beach with a girl, and I’m into that. Finishing strong the album closes with the tracks “Let’s Dance”, “U Mad Bro”, and “Still The King!!!” – The fellas from BROKENCYDE are able to end it with a bang and prove, they’re for real. Dust the haters, and fuck the bitches. If you are a BROKENCYDE fan, you are in for a treat with Guilty Pleasure. The only thing I can argue with is the title of the album, as it’s not so much a guilty pleasure, but more so something I will gladly profess my love for atop a mountain, with the burning passionate fire of a thousand suns.
