AIC were one of the first bands that got me to appreciate the heavier side of music. Layne Staley’s lyrics came from a dark yet very human place. So much so, that paired with some pretty singing and a melancholy hook, they’d probably fit pretty well in an emo song… but that simply wasn’t the case. They just so happened to be sung with one of the most unique voices in hard rock, wailing over some sludgy, dirty riffs from Jerry Cantrell. This video fits the mood of the song perfectly and it still sends chills down my spine to this day.
