Jeffrey Lohrber (Vocals, Guitar) of Enabler – Looking Back at Def Leppard’s “Foolin”
Def Leppard is the first rock band that I ever liked. My dad had Pyromania and Hysteria on vinyl and I would skip Sunday morning church with my mom to hang out with my dad while he ironed his work shirts and even though he would want to listen to the Beatles, I would make him play me these records instead. I had a toy guitar that didn’t work and would run around the house pretending I was Steve Clark (RIP) or Phil Collen. My family actually took me to see Def Leppard when I was in first grade on the 7 Day Weekend tour in 1992 or 93 (still wear the shirt!). After seeing Def Leppard, I knew that I wanted to spend my life playing in a rock band. Eventually I went to the back catalog and heard the first two records On Through the Night and High N Dry, and even further back The Def Leppard EP and First Strike. A lot of people know this band for their hits, but you go to the early stuff and they are straight NWOBHM. The fact that this band survived their drummer losing an arm and the death of their main songwriter blows my mind. Steve Clark is still to this day one of my guitar heroes. Listen to our song “Fucking Wartorn” and you will hear it in the bridge. I also should mention that I was nicknamed Jef Leppard a long time ago, and have this tattooed on my chest.
