So Cal punk veterans PULLEY have followed up 2009’s Time-Insensitive Material with another EP, this time a three-song 7” scorcher. They start out with “No Man’s Flute”, a catchy and vibrant number that has a wonderful wistfulness to it, with lyrics such as “The stars are fading faster through these years I starve to hear/As I’ve followed in your footsteps and my youth it disappears.” Following this is the one-two punch of the equally impressing, heavy-hitting title track and an admirable take on the BIG BOYS’ “Which Way To Go”, a version that stays true to the powerful, moving original and fits quite well with the rest of the record. Hopefully these three songs can tide fans over until the band’s next full-length is released. (JJ)
