Say what you will about SUM 41, but if you don’t recognize Half Hour Of Power, All Killer No FillerDoes This Look Infected, and Chuck for the influence they had on the current sound of pop punk then you are a fool blind to the painfully obvious, those albums were all through and through solid and just as important as the BLINK 182 index or the Drive Thru records library. Underclass Hero left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, I don’t think anyone will dispute that fact, it was a tired and half assed effort that showed the bands age and what looked to be like a career ender for sure, but Screaming Bloody Murder is one of the most awe inspiring raising of the dead comebacks to occur in years. The record is a true testament to the direction that Chuck had touched upon and further develops the idea as songs like “Skumfuk” change the game with its ability to switch between haunting melodies and powerful full punk chords quicker than a petition to bring a Chick-fil-a to a new state finds its required signatures, while still staying true to already established sounds like “Jessica Kill” which could easily find its place as a Does This Look Infected b-side. This is the follow up to Chuck that you all wanted, this is the album that will restore your faith in the band, and this is the album that solidifies SUM 41 back on top as one of the finest radio played mainstream level pop punk bands in operation currently.
